Solenn Heussaff is a Filipino celebrity, popular host, singer, actress, endorser and Georgina Wilson is a top endorser, social media superstar, magazine cover girl and Asia's next top model host. They are the Authors of their newly launched book titled “Besties”.

The book touches on their personal lives and on topics essential to every girl – career, fashion, fitness, beauty, travel, relationships, finances, and most of all, friendship.
This book proves that these It Girls are more than just pretty faces. Solenn is cool and seems fun to be with while Georgina is brainy and practical. I was surprised to know that Georgina has a double major in accounting and finance! Wow!

The authors said: “We started this book as a passion project because we wanted to help others through our experiences — not to say we’re right or wrong, but to share what we went through.” They never expected it to have a great impact on the lives of girls and women. They just wanted to help us somehow cope up with our challenges and remind us to enjoy life with the people who matter the most.

The word “besties” means best friends. Simply put, this book is about real life best friends Solenn and Georgina.

My thoughts:

I like this book because it’s easy and fun to read. It consists of nine chapters written in their own voice, with comic strips and pictures. Some of the comic strips are funny and some of the pictures are interesting. You’ll be amazed at how the powers of makeup and Photoshop transform these already beautiful women into insanely attractive models.

I’ve always thought that these women have easy lives just because they’re celebrities and I envied them for it. I was wrong. In fact, life is harder for them because almost everything about them is “scrutinized” by the public. When they make mistakes, people bash them online. Like it’s not okay for them to be humans just because they’re public figures. It makes me feel bad about it when I read the mean comments of their haters. I couldn’t believe that Solenn and Georgina received such comments about how they look (they look perfect to me!). Some people should realize that celebrities are human beings too like the rest of us and it’s never okay to write harsh comments for them via the worldwide web.

Some of my favorite snapshots from the book:

Conclusion:

For me, This kind of book is what the girls in this generation should read. We have insecurities because of the effect of social media that causes us to define how boring or dull our life is, without knowing the in-depth of what is really happening behind these artists life. Solenn and Georgina also started from the very bottom, they work hard to reach what they have become today, it's a matter of how you gain confidence within yourself, embracing your imperfection, surrounding yourself with good and trustworthy people, and be just simply happy and don't mind the negative people and bashers.

Anyway, you’ll probably adore this book if you’re a girl, whatever age you are now. It’s readable, inexpensive and has nice pictures and drawings. It’s important for every girl to own this book.

A memorable quote from the book: Express yourself, don’t repress yourself.
